Requirements Engineering Technician

Department: Client Opportunity
Location: Patuxent River, MD
Schedule Type: Fully On Site

BOOST LLC is a dynamic management consulting firm that offers an array of government-compliant back-office solutions to support our teaming partners within the GovCon space. We are working with our client, Don Selvy Enterprises (DSE) to find their next highly skilled Requirements Engineering Technician.

About DSE

DSE, Inc. is a team of experienced professionals dedicated to engineering, training, and program management that enables front-line soldiers, sailors, and Marines to fully exploit the tactical capabilities of aviation and maritime platforms. We accomplish this by using the most qualified employees and keeping abreast of every new capability in aviation, maritime technologies, and simulation/training technology as it emerges. Our wide range of expertise is constantly expanding as we seek valued members of the DSE team and work to develop each of them to their fullest potential in the field. To this day, DSE continues to foster a work environment that supports ingenuity and the care for each member of the team.

The Role

The Requirements Engineering Technician will be part of the Requirements Verification team within NAVAIR's Unmanned Carrier Aviation program office (PMA-268), receiving direction from the Requirements Manager while supporting the Air System, Unmanned Control Station (UMCS), and Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) APMSEs. You'll help manage requirements across the System Design Specification (SDS), Air System Performance Specification (ASPS), Control System Performance Specification (CSPS), Training System Performance Specification, Test Unique Capability (TUC) Specification, and subsystem specifications as the MQ-25 program moves through its life cycle, coordinating with the Test and Evaluation (T&E) team on verification and validation efforts to keep pace with the block schedule.

MQ-25 will be the Navy's first operational, carrier-based unmanned aircraft, giving the carrier air wing an aerial refueling capability that extends its range and reach. PMA-268 serves as lead systems integrator on the program, working with Boeing and Lockheed Martin Skunk Works to bring the air vehicle, the ground control station, and the carrier together as one system. It's a program still taking shape, which means real influence over how requirements get tracked and verified as MQ-25 moves toward the fleet.

Why DSE

DSE doesn't just ask for your experience, it rewards it. DSE's PTO program is experience-based rather than tenure-based, meaning the relevant industry experience you bring with you can qualify you for a higher PTO allocation from day one, rather than starting over at the bottom like you would at most employers. It's a rare structure in this industry, where most companies only reward the tenure you earn after you join, not the years of expertise you bring with you.

That same philosophy carries through the rest of the benefits package:

  • Starting salary range: $95,000 to $102,000 annually
  • 100% company-paid medical and dental premiums for employees (50% for dependents)
  • 401(k) with up to a 4% company match
  • Fully paid life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance, no cost to you
  • Employer-funded FSA plus HRA contributions toward your deductible
  • Experience-based PTO: your prior relevant experience can qualify you for a higher PTO allocation from day one, plus the option to purchase additional PTO
  • 11 paid holidays (6 national, 5 floating)
  • Tuition reimbursement to support continued professional growth

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Requirements Manager with the processes, toolsets, and overall oversight of requirements throughout the program
  • Track requirement management action items to closure
  • Track all changes to the ASPS, CSPS, TSPS, TUC Spec, and subsystem specifications, and implement the current baseline as changes are approved contractually
  • Monitor deficiency reports (DR) and system inquiry reports (SIR) for possible impacts to specification requirements
  • Coordinate with requirement owner stakeholders and the Configuration Management team on Specification Change Notice (SCN) concurrence
  • Assist in distributing Proposed Change Requests (PCRs) for the Requirements Verification Working Group (RVWG)
  • Coordinate these processes with all applicable program stakeholders, including engineering, labs, test, and logistics

Required Education

  • A Technical or Scientific AS or AA degree. A high school diploma or GED, plus three additional years of relevant experience, may substitute for the degree; those three years are on top of the six years required under Experience below, for a total of nine years.

Required Experience

  • At least six years of recent, relevant experience in a position related to the role, including four years installing hardware and/or equipment and one year in the design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings (experience may be concurrent)
  • Familiar with requirements management and specifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite and/or requirements management software
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple competencies to reach consensus
  • NAVAIR acquisition experience preferred
  • Must hold an active Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required
  • Primary work location is NAS Patuxent River, St. Mary's County, Maryland, government or contractor spaces, with telework possible

DSE is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
